It was a pleasure to take part in a trip on a heritage narrowboat with the Friends of the Cromford Canal this week. Canals are such a central part of our industrial heritage and the restoration of canals will create major benefits to tourism across our region.

I will keep urging the Government to take every available opportunity to push for a lasting ceasefire, humanitarian access, the return of hostages and movement towards a two-state solution.

I am delighted to see that the UK has moved towards recognising the state of Palestine. This follows a letter sent by 255 MPs last week, including myself, calling for the Government to recognise Palestine.

The strength of concern over the potential closure of the Eco-Centre was evident in a meeting attended by local stakeholders. I’m pleased the meeting was a constructive one, and I hope a solution can be found to keep this much needed, and much loved, community space open.
