This morning, Cst. Petrie and his loyal partner, Police Service Dog “Koa” ended their final shift together.
After serving our community for the past 6.5 years, Koa is hanging up his leash to begin enjoying his well-deserved retirement. Koa, thank you, and all the best!

We are all affected by the senseless act of violence that occurred in North Vancouver today. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and every person who witnessed the event unfold.
Out with the old, in with the new! We would like to welcome Constable Nicole Braithwaite as the new WVPD Communications Officer. She is replacing Constable Goodmurphy who is on his way back to our Patrol Division after fulfilling his tenure. We wish Cst. Braithwaite all the best!
The

traffic team has been busy enforcing the bus lane leading to the Lions Gate Bridge. This is NOT an HOV lane, it’s a dedicated bus lane (motorcycles allowed). Driving in this lane, like these four cars? You can receive a $109 ticket under section 153 MVA -Use Bus Lane.
Solid effort by A-Team last night, after a resident called to report the sound of power tools at 4:00am. Officers quickly located 3 people attempting to steal thousands of dollars-worth of fibre-optic cables. With the use of Police Dog Jake, all 3 were taken into custody.
This was the Lions Gate Bridge last night. We appreciate your patience while it was temporarily shut down due to poor road conditions.
Colder temperatures this morning means a dicey commute. If you have to go out, ensure you’re prepared.
It's bike to school and work week! We happened to catch a glimpse of Cst. Goodmurphy returning after a quick coffee break. Nice to see he rode his new wheels to work today.
Be part of the change and help make Metro Vancouver a happier and healthier place to live, work, and play
While a lot has changed, a lot still remains the same.
It may not be our regular coffee spot, but we still make time to catch up if even from 6 feet apart.
We are here for you.

Today members from the West Vancouver Police joined thousands of other first responders to honour the life of Cst. Shaelyn Yang.
A beautiful service to honour a hero.
You will never be forgotten. We will remember.
We are very happy to report that the missing 77-year-old man with dementia, reported earlier today, has been located safe and sound in West Vancouver.
Thank you to media,
@NSRescue
members, the public, and friends and family of the missing person, for their assistance.
Good news! Yesterday, one of our officers spotted someone riding a bicycle that was reported stolen, only days ago. The suspect was quickly arrested and the bicycle was later returned to its rightful owner who couldn’t have been happier. 😊
This long weekend, you will likely see an increase in uniformed officers throughout West Van.
Police will be out conducting beach patrols, traffic enforcement and counterattack roadblocks to help ensure that visitors are enjoying the outdoor spaces, safely.

member just impounded a Porsche 911 for excessive speed on Hwy 1. 138km/h in a posted 90 zone with heavy rain and very wet roads. Please check yourself before you wreck yourself and others. Slow down, maintain safe distance. Get home safe!
Great work by Patrol officers today who responded to a check well-being of an 82-year-old woman. When they arrived, they forced entry and located the woman, semi-conscious on the floor. Officers provided aid, while awaiting an ambulance. She is now in the care of hospital staff.
Today is

A contingent from WVPD attended yesterdays Regimental Funeral for Cst Rick O’Brien. It was an honour and a powerful experience to witness the support from agencies all across Canada and the public. Our condolences to the family and his colleagues at the Ridge Meadows RCMP.

Chief Constable Len Goerke is hanging up his cap for the final time. Recently, he announced his retirement date, Friday Feb. 26. We wish him all the best!
Last weekend was a busy one for Patrol Officers, with large crowds of people enjoying our parks and beaches. While most people were acting responsibly, unfortunately a small number caused problems. Here are a few things to keep in mind.
It's raining today...a great day if you're a duck. Unless you're this poor little gosling who was found wandering around in West Van. Luckily they were picked up by a kind citizen and turned into WVPD. We were eventually able to transport them to a wildlife centre in Burnaby.
A sad day in policing today, as we mourn the loss of an officer gone too soon. We are thinking about the
@BurnabyRCMP
, as well as friends and family of the fallen officer. Thank you for protecting and serving your community. You will not be forgotten.
On September 7, many students will be returning to

Seven years ago we lost a colleague and a friend. Cst. Louis Beglaw was a loyal husband, father, son, and brother. He is missed dearly by many.

Yesterday, an officer from the Integrated Road Safety Unit (IRSU) impounded a vehicle on Hwy 1 near Cypress Bowl Road exit in West Vancouver after it was observed travelling at a speed of 175 km/hr in a posted 90km/hr zone. We’re getting a bit tired of this. Slow Down.

This is Pink. She isn’t in trouble, officers just needed a way to hang on to her until her owners arrived. They had called us after Pink fell into the Capilano River over the weekend and was swept downstream. Luckily, an officer found her on a nearby roadway. One lucky pooch!
