DEATH OF A SALESMAN (B’dway,London),CLEMENCY (Sundance), BURNING CANE (TriBeca Film Fest) SELMA, RAY, X. JACK RYAN (Amazon) THE WIRE (HBO) RAISING KANAN (Starz)
A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. An sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP
The depth of my love for this brother, can only be matched by the depth of my pain learning of his loss. A immensely talented man with the ability to give voice to the human condition portraying the lives of those whose humanity is seldom elevated until he sings their truth.
REMEMBER THIS DAY. NUCLEAR FUSION BREAKTHROUGH. We have harnessed the power to create nuclear fusion with lasers eliminating the need for fossil fuels, and without any radioactive waste. This breakthrough creates unlimited clean renewable energy. It eliminates the need for oil.

:My 95yr old father fought in WWII at Saipan risking his life for the United States of America, a country that had little respect for himWhen he returned to New Orleans he was denied his right to vote, his right to live where he wanted & most of his civil rights...
June 2, 2002, THE WIRE premiered on HBO. A visual novel. A reflection on our American dysfunction. A powerful piece of art. My life and career changed forever. Gratitude.
America remember. On this day when 240,000 are projected to die from this virus, as hospitals are at their breaking point, this President is fighting in court to take away healthcare insurance coverage from millions of Americans and destroy the ACA, Obamacare.
My brother cared for him his last day. I cared for him his final night. I held him in my hands in that sacred moment when he died. My father was a man of great honor, quiet courage, and deep love. He made a divine promise that he would never leave us and dedicate his life to us
Amos E. Pierce, Jr. (98). World War II Veteran. Battle Of Saipan. 6 Days after Normandy, in the Invasion of Saipan, this 17yr. old kid from New Orleans risked his life, to give me mine. I’m eternally grateful, Daddy.
Amos E. Pierce, Jr. died today after 98 years of life. Whatever I thought I told him, I probably did. Whatever I forgot to tell him, he already knew. He will live in me forever. May flights of angels sing him to his rest
The Juilliard School will bestow an honorary doctorate upon Wendell Pierce for a 40 year career of distinction as an actor and producer. An alumnus from the Class of ‘85. Group 14.
It is clear that
@kanyewest
is being sensational for the sake of publicity. I could care less about that. But for you to use the murder and holocaust of slavery for your own self aggrandizement is at the core of your vile appeasement of white supremacists.
Warning Maui Fire Victims: As a victim of Katrina, we saw the criminality begin at this point of the disaster. 1) Insurance companies will abandon you after years of paying premiums. 2) If insurance companies do pay out they will collude with banks and pay off your loan, not you.
Medicare and Social Security are NOT ENTITLEMENTS. You earned those every day you worked since that Summer job at 14yrs. old. You EARNED them. They were deducted from your paycheck for the day you need them. Now the GOP wants to steal your money sitting in an account waiting.
If you don’t know, you better ask somebody. His name was Michael K. Williams. He shared with me his secret fears then stepped out into his acting with true courage, acting in the face of fear, not in the absence of it. It took me years to learn what Michael had in abundance.
My father fought in the Double V campaign, victory abroad &victory at home. We won victory over fascism abroad but we’re still fighting racism at home.
@Drewbrees
my father cheers for you every Sunday, I hope you cheer for him as he takes a knee for the flag he nearly died for.
I will remember Tony Bennett joining the March from Selma to Montgomery for Voting Rights in 1965. He performed, under the threat of violence, for those fighting for their rights. Harry Belafonte asked him to join the movement. We lost both of these icons months apart. God Bless
Congratulations to my TV daughter Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on the news of their wedding engagement. Harry you have her TV Father’s blessing. Robert Zane approves

I FOUND IT!!!!!! THANK YOU ALL! A NEEDLE IN THE HAYSTACK OF NEW YORK CITY. IT CAN ONLY BE BECAUSE OF ALL OF YOU. THE THOUSANDS OF PRAYERS AND POSITIVE ENERGY. THIS IS SPIRIT. THIS IS DIVINE. THANK GOD. BLESS YOU ALL. YOU SAVED MY SPIRIT. I AM PROFOUNDLY GRATEFUL
True story. Walking to lunch, Dominic asked,” I thought we finished that scene?”, I replied” We did. Those are the real kids.” It was harsh reminder of the American dysfunction.
After wrapping up filming this scene, kids from the McCulloh Homes were slinging dope from the orange couch before Wendell Pierce & Dominic West even left the pit.

“By virtue of the authority of the Boards of Governors& Trustees of Rutgers,The State University of NewJersey, I confer upon you, honoris causa, & the degree of Doctor of FineArts, with all rights, responsibilities, privileges & immunities appertaining thereto.” Dr. Wendell Pierce
Treat Williams was a passionate, adventurous, creative man. In a short period of time, he quickly befriended me & his adventurous spirit was infectious. We worked on just 1 film together but occasionally connected over the years. Kind and generous with advice and support. RIP
MY GOD. I had not seen the entire video of the murder of George Floyd. Unarmed, handcuffed, and clearly being murdered while a first responder of the fire department pleads for his care. Another,Donald Williams heroically fights vocally to stop the murder he clearly is witnessing
I am my 93yr old father’s caregiver. He gave me life, an education, guided me towards opportunity, taught me a love of travel & wanderlust, fought for his country when his country fought against him, and he is a man of simple honor and deep love. He is my hero. Amos Pierce, Jr.
“but the distillation of all that he had ever observed; all the unsingable heart song the ordinary man may feel but never utter, he gave voice to. And by that somehow joins the ages.
Mike…….you joined the ages.
Farewell my friend,
Love Wendell
It’s moments like this where I want to see good police around the country publicly denounce the murder in Minnesota. THE SILENCE IS DEAFENING. WHERE ARE YOU NOW IN YOUR CONDEMNATION OF THIS?!
The Medal of Honor Gala at the World War II Museum. The Pierce family honored. Ron Pierce, West Point Class of ‘85. Wendell Pierce, Distinguished Citizen Award. Amos Pierce, Jr. (98) World War II Veteran, Battle of Saipan.
My father risked his life for the US Constitution that was written without even considering him a human being, until many Americans lost their lives to change it. To protect the 1st Amendment right to protest. Even then my father returned to New Orleans greeted by segregation...
My father, who fought for your freedom
@DrewBrees
had to navigate racial violence in New Orleans as civil rights protesters were beaten by many who stand for our flag as they sat at the Woolworth lunch counter.... blocks from the Superdome....
My father is a patriot that stood up and risked his life for the American flag so Americans can kneel down in protest when its raised. Are you saying he disrespects it? He loves this country that seldom loved him in his 95 years. That’s living the life of Christian forgiveness.
The hypocrisy of the umpire to penalize
@serenawilliams
in a sport that celebrated the antics of John McEnroe and Ilie Nastace is a blatant display of sexism
#usopen
My father returned home after fighting in WWII & started a family. As his youngest son, he taught me to love the country that America could be.... but had not become yet. He taught me to fight for that America of liberty and justice for all. Never lose the ability to be offended
He loved this country, when this country didn’t love him. He fought for this flag to honor Sojourner, Harriet, Frederick, Martin,& Malcom. He stood up, so Kap could kneel down. In honor of Black Lives Matter. At 95,Amos Pierce’s 1 command, “We’re gonna take care of this shit!”
Now the battle begins. The oil companies will fight to keep their billion dollar profit machines. We as a society will have to rise up and demand that those in government and business fundamentally change our energy infrastructure 180 degrees. The future has arrived.
A federal appeals court ruled yesterday that an individual or group (like the NAACP) are NOT allowed to sue states for violating the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965. This ruling destroys almost 60 years of precedent in U.S. federal law. THERE IS BLOOD ON THAT BALLOT BOX.
THE WIRE brought us together and immortalized Omar & Bunk in that “scene” on a park bench. But for us we aimed to take that moment in time together and say something about Black men. Our struggle with ourselves, internally, and each other. For me & Mike we had nothing but respect
“Every white person in this country - - I do not care what he/she says -- knows one thing. They may not know, as they put it, 'what I want.' But, they know they would not like to be black, here. If they know that, they know everything they need to know...".
James Baldwin
Ice Cube has the right to ask what the Democrats have done for the Black community.
-Civil Right Act, Voting Rights Act, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Obamacare, Economic Empowerment Zones, Community Development Legislation creating Community Banking to combats red lining
My father fought for the flag you respect, when that flag flew over New Orleans City Hall when a Christian preacher by the name of Rev. Avery Alexander was dragged down the steps of City Hall because niggers were not allowed in its segregated cafeteria....A Christian like you....
Ron Cephas Jones was a man of grace, insight, elegance, talent, wisdom, sophistication, and coolness. I witnessed his rise from the Nuyorican Poets Café, to Richard III at NY Shakespeare Fest, to the Emmy award winning performance on This Is Us. He was the epitome of soulfulness.
As you read this, remember this Academy member admits he never watched the film. He should be expelled. His bigotry and sexism is what we’re fighting against. Ultimately art isn’t a competition, but racism is an anathema
HE WAS IN HIS HOME. HE DIDNT HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE COMMANDS OF AN INTRUDER. This begins the character assassination f the victim
#bothemshemjean
. This police officer didn’t have a warrant to be there and this excuse of seeing a door ajar is a common narrative used as an excuse.
“There is a certain immortality involved in theater, not created by monuments and books, but through the knowledge an actor keeps to his dying day that on a certain afternoon, in an empty and dusty theater, he cast the shadow of a being that was not himself…….
He was proud of the artist he had become, asking for my advice long after he had surpassed any incite I could have shared.Always truthful, never inauthentic. The kindest of persons. Like two mischievous kids, we would laugh & joke whenever we would meet. Like Baltimore years ago

After years of creating a body of work in the theater, I received a Tony Award nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Play for DEATH OF A SALESMAN. I am profoundly grateful &moved to tears that my colleagues would bestow on me this honor. I share this with my cast. We create as one
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has harnessed the power of the Sun. This is one of the greatest scientific discoveries of our age. Hopefully the media will give it the attention it deserves.
I have been criticized by friends that I am to angry during this crisis. My answer is we should never lose the ability to be offended and angered by incompetence, injustice, mendacity, or the complicity of endangering the lives of the communities we live in.
How can anyone watch “The Wire” and the dysfunction of the police & the war on drugs and say that we were depicted as heroic. We demonstrated moral ambiguities and the pathology that leads to the abuses. Maybe you were reacting to how good people can be corrupted to do bad things
As protests sparked by the murder of George Floyd continue around the country, THR's Daniel Fienberg and Inkoo Kang reflect on the small screen's struggle to depict police violence and community responses
On the night of my 1st performance of Death Of A Salesman on Broadway, one man sat alone in the theater to greet me. Carl Weathers. A personal hero. It was a moment I will remember for the rest of my life. I thanked him for his importance to me, his artistry, and character. RIP
The Purple Knight nation mourns the loss of Carl Weathers. He was a student at St. Augustine from 1962 - 1965 participating in the Glee Club and football. We enjoyed witnessing his success over the last six decades as a former NFL linebacker and a movie star. He will be missed!
This is not an isolated incident. This is the result of a culture of fascism that gives white nationalists and Nazis room to thrive. Political leaders who say “ there are good people on both sides”. Officials who downgrade the horrors of slavery with miseducation of Black history
He loved this country, when it didn’t love him back, because he believed in fighting for justice, equality, and exercising your right of self determination. He taught us our self worth was never negotiable and there will be those who will never have your best interest at heart.
Apologize to his spirit and the souls of all our ancestors who were denied the life of privilege you lead. When that is done, I pray the world chooses to forget you and the trite, monotony you call music.
With the deepest and most profound sadness, I grieve the passing of a true jazz master, icon of our culture, historic in the story of New Orleans, and profound in his influence in the evolution of music along with many lives. Father. Mentor. Teacher. Genius. RIP Ellis Marsalis 💔
Ms. Leah Chase, Queen of Creole Cuisine RIP. A Restauranteur, Civil Rights Leader, and World Renowned Chef. Her restaurant Dooky Chase is where the Civil Rights Movement strategy was continuously coordinated. The destination of the Freedom Riders, Creation of SCLC. American Icon
Let’s be clear: The President of the United States just admitted he knew his National Security Advisor committed a felony. Then he asked the FBI director ( Comey) not to pursue or prosecute the crime. Comey refuses, & POTUS fires him. This is an Obstruction of Justice case study.
I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!
Althea Pierce, my mother, was a teacher for over 40 years. In our neighborhood of Pontchartrain Park, I was known as “Mrs. Pierce’s Son”. To this day I have been stopped around the world by people who say, “Your mother taught me in first grade”.A legacy of a great education.
It only took 27 days and we created a lifetime. Charlie Robinson and I quarantined together during this pandemic to create a play and in that short time we created a lifetime of friendship. A special bond, like the father and son, we portrayed in the play. We had a mission.
What an honor! My portrait joins the legacy of Sardi’s Restaurant in NY!Forever enshrined on the walls of this entertainment institution with the greats of theater & film!

Mark this date. The President of the United States inciting violence if an opposing political party wins an election. This is a blatant call for violence.
My father’s death reminded me of the profound impact my father had on me. His life lessons are embodied in everything I do moving forward. I am his living legacy. With that in mind, I will conduct myself as the man he prepared me to be, in a manner that will meet his expectations
