Hey #IMG physicians, What are things you’d like your program to have that would’ve helped you in your transition to a new country and health system? And/or If your program has a specific support system for foreign residents, could you share some examples? #MedTwitter

Talked about how low dose radiation to entire ventricle can get a patient out of refractory VF this weekend at the @HRSonline 2024 meeting. How cool is that?! Grateful to my mentors (especially @DoctorPhillEP) and all the opportunities I’ve been given at @WashUIMRes 🫀

Walking by the posters at #ATS2024 made me reflect about the characteristics of an EFFECTIVE poster design. Here is a brief 🧵 @atscommunity @ATSMedEd

Here’s a situation many of us have seen in the ICU or ED: “It looked like there was ST elevation on the monitor but when I took a 12 lead it was gone?!” A STEMI went MIA? Here’s a #tweetorial all about why ST segments look different on monitors. #FOAMed #FOAMcc 1/

Happy delayed Halloween from the CCU 🫀 night team! We initially wanted to dress up like swans 🦢(iykyk), but the makeup and feathers would be a bit too much for the unit. So we kept it simple.

Now that I can walk again, time to share: marathoner x2! Chicago offered the perfect conditions for an 11-minute PR (and a world record too)! It’s always rewarding and painful to cross the finish line. But we only remember the rewarding part. That’s why we keep on doing it!

10-day countdown for the Chicago Marathon! But I’ll only be able to run it with some extra help. We need to reach 75% of the fundraising goal by next week, and we’re almost there! 🫀 Please, if you can, donate and/or share! Link below. #RunWithHeart

Day 2 of reading IM applications! I know this is a stressful time for applicants - but it is absolutely amazing to read your stories. The future of medicine is in great hands! @WUDeptMedicine @WUSTLmed @WashUIMRes

GOOD LUCK to all applicants! Time to sit and wait, which, in my opinion, is the hardest part of the season. To my fellow IMGs, our interviews take longer to arrive, don’t worry, you’ll be fine. Deep breaths, in and out. It’s about to get very exciting ☺️

After exiting the room, our team gathered for a reflective session about what happened and our emotions when patients pass away. The experience was genuinely gratifying, reminding us that, sometimes, a good outcome doesn't always equate to a cure.

Despite being stable and recovering from his hospitalization, he was ready. And he was telling this to his primary team for the past week. He recognized his end-stage heart disease and did not want further interventions.

Seconds before it happened, he said “I’m feeling much better today doc!”. And then went into VT arrest, staring blankly at the wall. His daughter was called into the room and held his hand while he had his last agonal breath.

Watched a patient pass away today. And it was the most peaceful passing I’ve ever witnessed. He wasn’t sedated, or intubated (or being terminally extubated). He wasn’t receiving chest compressions. The atmosphere was pleasant and the room was quiet.

Flying back to St. Louis tonight with the best “end-of-vacation” news! Just got my first research grant application approved. Special thank you to @DrNancySweitzer for being an incredible mentor. The real work is about to start and I'm looking forward to it.

Last week of vacation = peak mileage week! I’m not a high mileage runner, so this is the highest I’ve gotten so far. Super happy with this marathon cycle and with what my body has thought me. Side note: don’t stop doing what you love during residency! #ChicagoMarathon
