And an active comparator arm that we know has efficacy. I think people continually ignore that all sac/val trials were conducted against active comparator arms. #NoPlacebo.
#PARADIGMHF Sac/Val vs Enalapril. ✅ Benefits driven by large reductions in both HF events & death (RRR 16% ARR 2.8%). ✅ Benefits consistently seen across 47 countries. ✅ Events blindly adjudicated using predetermined definitions

I love this @drmiketodorovic 🤎🤎🤎 ! I am going to use it all the time teaching in the ICU @WashUCardiology.
I made this video to show my students why we need elastic arteries. It’s called the Windkessel effect and is the reason why we have a diastolic blood pressure >OmmHg.#MedEd #MedTwitter #FOAMed #CardioTwitter #heart

My privilege to attend this important workshop @hfcollaboratory @US_FDA. Empowered in my role as a #DMC member, and learned so much about best practices and expectations as a committee member. Thanks @mfiuzat @coconnormd Dave Demets and Barry Greenberg for this opportunity!.

I love to publish scientific work @CircHF that leads to new hypotheses, unique research questions and spurs more science. Thanks to my colleagues @UABCVI for exactly that. Why are women getting LVADs not doing as well as men? More research is needed!.
A study published in @CircHF, UAB Medicine's Naman Shetty, M.D., & colleagues found that female recipients of LVADs had a higher risk of mortality, lower likelihood of heart transplantation, & a higher rate of adverse events compared to male recipients.

Contractile function, not EF? Anyone? Published today @CircHF Great work by @aepetersMD, @_adevore and colleagues @DukeCardiology with important lessons for all of us managing patients with HF and "good" EF! EF might be normal, but is contractility?

Great thoughts @MarkDrazner. IMO unfortunate if #HFCardiologists not attending in ICU to model rational use of vasoactive meds and Tx of cardiogenic shock. This is where I have most influence on learner’s careers.#HFTrainingChat.
Q1. Early exposure to our discipline is key- residency and for sure by Y1 fellowship. Develop curriculum that can be shared across centers; multi center virtual lectures as option. Sponsor potentially interested trainees to attend @hfsa Annual Scientific Meeting. #HFTrainingChat.
