It’s a lot. The fan pressure, the frankly horrible work environment, the fact that it is without a doubt the most restrictive book the company has, the fact that it’s the most high profile book at marvel, and it’s just not fun to work on

To get really cynical: there’s only one way we’re getting rid of editoral: death. They’re that deep in the company, that house isn’t getting new blood until it’s empty. There’s a reason we haven’t gotten a writer that’s not near 50 on the run in decades

Many at marvel would have to leave for the character to even begin to be fixed. It would need multiple runs to undo the nearly 20 years of mischaracterization, nonsense plots and clear editorial spite that him and characters adjacent to him have had to go through.

Modern Peter goes by the same struggles most other heroes have. The problem isnt “misery porn” its just bad writing and most people only join in the badwagon cause they heard the bad choices from the zeb wells run.
