Data contributed to the @WebAirs incident reporting system helps raise awareness of peri-operative lingual nerve injury estimated in some previous reviews to have an incidence of ~7 per 10,000 cases. Thankyou to Dr @snouzin for this excellent podcast review.

https://t.co/ysPIxbIEro now has a dedicated COVID-19 Incident reporting page. It’s important that with this new disease & it’s accompanying unfamiliar & evolving hospital processes that as many near misses & adverse events are captured to help improve both staff & patient safety.

In my brief stint so far as @ASA_Australia President, I have talked with a number of #anaesthetists who have had unexpected ‘adverse’ events. It’s more common than we might think. We work in a hazardous environment & achieve a high level of safety. Be kind to each other

We must look carefully and sympathetically at how we develop and nurture a culture of support around adverse outcomes at the individual, collegial and organisational level. ⁦@ranzcog
