Can we kill this stupid idea that a male on hormones produces breastmilk like a mother’s?.Men’s hormone regime omits prolactin (milk-making hormone which mothers produce post birth); they can’t make colostrum; the amount they can produce is minuscule; the drugs given have risks.

No, @wesstreeting …’women & transmen’ is unclear, confusing & unnecessary. Everyone knows what sex they are. Has this clunky ‘additive language’ ever been subject to an impact survey across the whole target group? .

Thank you @ForWomenScot for highlighting how some men are demanding help to breastfeed infants. This disrupts & undermines the mother-baby dyad. The baby cannot benefit from it - it’s totally selfish. No public money or service should ever support it.
Scottish Trans worries that 'men who can breastfeed' might not be protected under maternity rights. We think they should be investigated for endangering babies, not protected!

.@eveappeal please stop following this trend of pretending that gynaecological problems don’t happen to *women*, no matter how they identify. And no - ‘additive language’ like ‘women & people with gynae organs’ 🙄just adds to the mess.
"21 people die each day from their diagnosis" of a gynaecological cancer. Which people would those be? As @jk_rowling said, "Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?" The word is WOMEN ‒ use it!.@thirdsectorSEEN @SEENinHealth

.@GP_IFN Hi, GP Infant Feeding Network. We think it’s odd to illustrate your galactagogues (milk-stimulation stuff) info with a pic of a bare-chested male plus baby. We know some males try to lactate as a fetish(🚩)…you might want to change this? .

Welcome with ❤️: MoMa breastfeeding support. A genuinely mother-to-mother organisation formed to be mother-centred, with no daft ideas that breastfeeding can or should be done by men (even the ones who say they‘re women).

(MANA not MAMA- midwives of north America). That mother & women-erasing language has continued, but not as strongly as MANA wanted. In 10 years, we’ve seen fightback plus growing appreciation that you can’t be ‘woman-centred’ if you can’t properly name our sex, loud & proud.
@salltweets This September it will be ten years since MAMA bowed to mother hating language- we still have much lost ground to recover. Ground which midwives deserted to “be kind” when their job is to safeguard Women and Mothers in their care
