5/ #RRR2025 was a fantastic platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and shaping practical approaches to sustainable peatland management across Europe.

4/ A half-day field trip led by Aldert Van Weeren showcased local paludiculture projects & innovative typha-based products, demonstrating productive peatland use supporting both restoration & local economies.

3/ Laura Kearney presented her Socio-Economic Study at Cuilcagh-Anierin Uplands SAC, Ireland, exploring farmers’ attitudes to peatlands, restoration, and agri-environmental schemes. Key insights: sustainable farming opportunities, knowledge transfer gaps & continuous engagement.

2/ Kate Flood delivered a keynote on “Embedding social-ecological justice for sustainable peatland transitions”, highlighting the importance of social dimensions in ecological restoration.

1/ Last week, the WaterLANDS team attended #RRR2025 in Greifswald, Germany – a 3-day conference on peatland restoration and #paludiculture across Europe. 🌱

Last week our Estonian WaterLANDS partners headed to Finland for a Peatland Restoration Workshop, hosted by Uni of Eastern Finland. T he visit mixed fieldwork with vital discussions on monitoring, tree decay & restoration plans in Estonia & Finland. 📸 Some highlights below!
