Back from a few days at Pawnee campground at Brainard Lake, in the South St. Vrain watershed. Hot days, a fair bit of snow up high; & starry nights. #BrainardLake #IndianPeaksWilderness #hiking

Cicadas are clicking in the trees west of town. And if you look closely, you can find their old and new selves.

The surface of Lake Mead, the country's largest reservoir, is now at 1,045 feet above sea level. Below about 895 feet, water would no longer pass through Hoover Dam. "We are 150 feet from 25 million Americans losing access to the Colorado River."
