I have reached a conclusion on L1 vs L2. The question is whether the winning theory for a chain is volume or standards. If the goal is to maximize volume, building an L1 makes sense because of L2's UX bottlenecks. If the goal is to capture standards, L2 is the only choice.

As Ethereum continues to improve tech, TPS will rise and fees will be much smaller. That means chains that are only “somewhat faster or cheaper” will eventually disappear as Ethereum improves. I bet on enterprise public chains since distribution channels cannot be copied.

I think the sequencer revenue era is just gone. Whether L2 can survive or not is dependent on whether L2 can make a killer use case with strong distribution. No one need general purpose L2s. For @soneium, we will focus on entertainment. We will have a major direction shift soon.

It’s going to be a big year. If the bill passes in 2026, the tax reduction will take effect in 2027 from 55% max to 20%. This will be only applied to around 105 tokens at this moment that are listed in Japan.

Since the Ethereum ecosystem is getting scalable, the moat of new chains can be only vertical integration and distribution channels. This is similar to Linux vs Mac/Windows.
i have a hard time convincing myself to own l1 tokens long term not because the p/e ratios r high, but because they have no moat. without a moat, they become commoditized and can’t capture meaningful value. - users can bridge from one chain to another easily these days. - most
