Just told my son (Edison) that "hypnotize" was a song about how I love his flashy ways and have been calling him "big E" all morning. Don't judge me.

When the graduating @GoldwaterInst presents for lab meeting, it is easy to forget your hearingb from a graduating senior and not at a graduate student's defense. Go Ava go!

I still donโt understand why major funding agencies like NIH donโt have their own jounals that are mandatory and free to publish in if you are funded by them. It would solve many of the issues we have now and save those agencies a ton of money wasted on publication fees
Want to change the system? Post preprints and only post preprints - don't submit to journals, don't subscribe to journals, don't read journals - only hire and fund people based on their preprints.

There's a pretty cool article about our work to reduce chemo-effects in this addition of the @kstate SEEK magazine. https://t.co/esdtzmsCnS

When I suggested that this was a bit of catch 22 situation, he also laughed.

When I asked if he had ever seen an R21 discussed without data, he laughed and said "no".

Had an NIH program officer tell me that being criticized for not having enough preliminary data in an R21 application was a fair criticism because "if you present any data, reviewers have the right to demand more".

My "to-do" list for my journal editor positions is officially empty for the first time in nearly two years. I feel a little naked to be honest.

I just had the craziest best luck. Left my phone on top of my car. Drove kiddo to school. 50-55mph. 2-3 miles. When I got out at his school, my phone was still on top of my car. Wow! Happy Tuesday! (Apologies for not using this platform for its intended use of complaining)
