Morning all. This account is now hibernating, indefinitely. You can find me in other places, should you wish. I hope to return, should better days come. Meanwhile, thank you for everything. All the best!

Startham Hall once stood here, above Carr Mill Dam. It was demolished in the middle of the last century. Just some rubble & a shape in the lane remains. The arrows on the modern aerial & circa 1900 OS map show the location. Photo my own, from yesterday. #StHelens #Lancashire

Carr Mill Dam overflow, doing brisk business a little while ago. It's quite something that all this water comes from the Black Brook, the stream through the Goyt, & sundry local drainage. Three miles walked. #StHelens

1,402 miles walked in 2024, my most since I started keeping proper records. I've been pounding the paths again today, & have seen some of the Blackbrook flooding. All the best to those families and businesses affected by it. #StHelens #Walk1000Miles

Eight years ago this morn, about to set off from @York_Minster to walk 300 miles to @1066battleabbey in the foot/hoof steps of King Harold II. The journey raised £2,000 for @MindCharity, and was an experience I will never forget. #WalkTheWalk950

Former Doctor's house & surgery (I think), and later Larkins' Restaurant, corner of North Road & Ward St., #StHelens. Now apartments. It was built at the turn of the 20thC & converted post 2012. #Lancashire #LookUp
