There was a lack of medium to long term follow up sessions after training in all studies. Some studies had concerns about the sustainability of the changes achieved.

All but 1 studies found a positive impact on staff communication styles immediately after training. This demonstrates a value to good quality training.

This study reviews the existing research into training models for staff supporting adults with PMLD. Both formalised and bespoke training packages are included in the review.

We have covered all sorts of topics this year including, #EMST pharyngeal residue rating scales, consent, #AI, saliva management, #telehealth, #DIGEST, presbyphagia and many more!.

Day 2️⃣4️⃣ #evidencebasedcountdowntoChristmas thinking about our service spec and reviews, it has been useful to read (again) the @RCSLT dementia position paper. It is easy to follow and provides ample examples of how valuable #slt service are when supporting a person with dementia.

We also started using a standardised bolus trial protocols with plans to review it’s impact on screening time and dose - so the discussion about that in this paper was useful.

In 2024 we started a service evaluation reviewing our #VFS outcomes and year-follow up outcomes for patients over 80 years old who had a VFS. Looking at PAS scores, admission rates and chest complications.
