You can’t talk about the safety of women & not talk about safe, affordable homes. The desperate lack of housing has no focus at #WomenSafetySummit. Each year 39,000 people seek long term housing after experiencing violence. 37,867 miss out #Housing4Safety

The federal government will host a landmark National Summit on Women’s Safety on Monday and Tuesday. Advocates say it has underplayed housing problems.

It’s #EqualPayDay! Australia’s gender pay gap is 14.2%. That means women earned more than $13,000 less than men last financial year. Over time this has devastating effects on a woman's financial security & leads to housing insecurity & homelessness. #GenderPayGap@WGEAgency

Unaffordable rents create homelessness. A recent Anglicare survey shows that out of 74K rental listings across Australia, 859 affordable on minimum wage & 3 affordable on Job Seeker. Homes are the foundation for happy, healthy live. #HW2021 #buildsocialhousing #everybodyshome

Poverty & housing crisis increases the likelihood that children will experience physical & mental health problems, social isolation, poor educational outcomes, behavioural problems and homelessness in adulthood. #buildsocialhousing and we can break this cycle. @_EverybodysHome

27,680 Australians aged 12-24 are homeless every night. If we #buildsocialhousing it isnt just shelter. Its a foundation for young people to become happy, healthy and productive. It disrupts the intergenerational cycle of poverty. Priceless! @_EverybodysHome #HomelessnessWeek2021

Women fleeing homes due to domestic and family violence should have a safe space to go. Due to a shortage of social housing however, thousands don't. Sign the @_EverybodysHome petition & ask federal government to #BuildSocialHousing #Everybodyshome https://t.co/rgdDR5pmPB

Much needed pending on aged care & child care in #Budget2021 but single, older women who don't own a home were ignored. Our fastest growing group of homeless. No investment in #socialhousing. No rise in Job Seeker or CRA. They deserve better. #buildsocialhousing #everybodyshome

#budget2021 is positive for childcare & aged care, but not investing in #socialhousing is failing people on low incomes. @anglicare_aust survey found no rentals affordable on Job Seeker. None. A no deposit home loan doesn't help if you cant afford to repay it. #buildsocialhousing

Australian governments have an established track record of stepping in to secure and expand housing during crises to make sure Australians have a home. Why aren't they doing it now? #everybodyshome #buildsocialhousing https://t.co/K75oZlY4r7 via @canberratimes
