Today @WHO_Zimbabwe donated a consignment of essential commodities worth $98,000 to @MoHCCZim to strengthen management of cholera & malaria. The supplies consisting of gloves, IV catheters, syringes & detergents will support diagnosis, treatment & prevention of these diseases.

Zimbabwe has made remarkable progress in reducing maternal mortality, from 651 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2015 to just 212 in 2023/24 (ZDHS). This is a major milestone reflecting sustained investments, strong policies, and community commitment to saving mothers’ lives.

It’s #WorldHealthDay!. Every day, 800 women die globally from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth, 70% of them in Africa. Most of these deaths can be prevented with timely, quality care. Preventable maternal deaths are a global injustice. We must act urgently.
