Time sure flies fast as we wrapped up our fourth and last day of 40th board meeting yesterday! We listened to reports from our YRSs and RC, and discussed how we can support our members. Today, there was an open forum for YOMs to share their ideas and comments with us.

...Interpretation is very important because it's the bridge. It helps bridge people through language. And of course #signlanguage does that as well. Because it opens a #bridge into the #deaf community. #IWDP #IDSL @drjosephjmurray @shirleyliu_au @AmaliaGamio

Amalia Gamio Rios: Not having qualified and enough #signlanguageinterpreter in all the services offered to the public is clearly a "Discrimination on the basis of disability" because #Signlanguage is a powerfull toll to avoid discrimination. @AmaliaGamio

#Deafchildren do not have ‘language’ problems, they have language access problems. For deaf children to receive a full education, give them access to their national sign language(s) and they can and will acquire language just like hearing children do. @shirleyliu_au #IDSL
