Part of this is they define “success” as being a lower tier, poorer European-esque country.

To picture feudalism don't imagine invested elites, imagine Afghan officers padding the rolls of soldiers with ghost soldiers to pocket the salaries & dispense them to his family or a network of related Slavic oligarchs looting utility companies for personal benefit. Ridiculous.

The irony is, Auron *misstates* Yarvin when he says "feudalism good because they have an investment in society." Yarvin is talking about an absolute monarch, something feudalism rules out. Feudalism, public power in private hands, notoriously is the exact opposite of investment.

One of my favorite history books is Leyburn's The Scotch-Irish: a social history. The chapters on what late medieval/early modern Scotland was like are just brutal & it blows the pristine view of the feudal past out of the water.
To engage substantively it is deflating to see someone rehash old NRx talking points from 2015 & actually think they are profound. Anyone with a child’s mind can grasp how totally self destructive feudal politics are to a polity. It’s bizarre.
