Sad, same in academia:.1. In 5th yr, student is asked to check raw data, interpret results with care, conclude meaningfully & submit synopsis. Student upset over delaying PhD. 2. Other in 3+yr, adequate work, advised to initiate the same steps. Is upset for rushing PhD.🤦🏻♀️.
2 experiences in clinic -.1. Parents bring a 5 yr old. "He does not speak okay for his age. We want speech therapy." Child has autism. Parents go away very unhappy at the suggestion of psychometry. Because i said - just speech therapy is unlikely to be enough. We need to know.

Every time a researcher lowers her standards to give a satisfactory grade for subpar performance, she loses her credibility in her field. Over time, scientific rigor is lost, an institute, country, field to loses its scientific credibility #Psychology #retractions #AcademicTwitter.

Doubt there's an Indian cohort for carrying out such studies. A few neurological, psychiatric disorders that I was interested in (epilepsy, spinal injury, MDD), either there are no national registries, or if they are there, the information is not easy to find even for researchers.
From Autism to Parkinson’s? A link we didn’t see coming: but maybe should have? A groundbreaking new study out of Sweden, just published in JAMA Neurology, raises eyebrows, and important questions about an unexpected link between autism spectrum disorder and Parkinson’s disease.
