In recent years, a growing concern has emerged among teachers, parents, and researchers in England: The increasing use of what could be called ‘elaborate dictation’ in classrooms. At first gl…

I don't know how many days my eldest spent out of class, receiving no education, because he was internally excluded/suspended. This is announced on the same day the Lords have the audacity to try to regulate home education to promote 'safeguarding'. Who is being safeguarded here?
https://t.co/0Tn23X0sqR What the UK is calling “internal suspension” is what US schools call ISS (In-School Suspension). Same practice, different label. A student is removed from class and placed in a separate supervised space, often alone, often for long periods, with minimal

😔 #stopthecwsbill Councils will be allowed to visit home ed homes. Will they expect desks and curriculums? Do they know what EHE can look like? Not only does this invade family privacy, but some schooled kids (like Sara Sharif) are abused at home. Surely there's a better way?

"It seems autism and ADHD are being regarded as conditions that can almost always be managed in mainstream or a unit, and that too many autistic children have EHCPs. The reality is, autism is perhaps one of the most complex conditions there is." This☝️
NEW POST: Complex needs, simple cuts: how vague, undefinable labels and lazy terminology could be a roadmap to rationing who gets SEND support. https://t.co/ZAB3HX51pE

I have questions… what if ICE shoots a mum, nurse, etc. in cold blood INFRONT of the Guardsmen and the Guardsmen shoot back. I figured Trump would accidentally start WWIII before he could start Civil War II, but now I’m not as sure.
Remember, these Guardsmen are local Minnesotans and not law enforcement. This is their home too! They are here to help keep protestors safe and support local PD and state troopers from being pushed out by ICE. If you are being harassed by ICE, or see ICE breaking the law, find

Very sweet video from the protest against the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill last weekend. I hope my boys appreciate my attempts to educate them as much as this young man does his mum 🥰💔
"In the future if I become a father I want to be just as good as her" The heartwarming moment a bright homeschool kid I interview talks about his mother who educates him. 💯 Yet the government wants abolish the right of parents to home-educate via their School's Bill. Madness.

For anyone in the UK interested in Macron's sunglasses, Marks & Spencer do a similar pair for £25 in either silver/grey or gold/brown. My nine-year-old son was, as I suspected, a fan of the style and is old enough now not to break sunglasses:

At Davos the French president wore a pair of shades made by Maison Henry Jullien to cover up a burst blood vessel in one eye

I am 100% running this look past my nine year old, who has to wear sunglasses most of the time, to see if he fancies a pair - they look quite swish on Macron (my son already has a pair of metal-framed sunglasses and really likes those but we need spares)

Digital ID may have been changed, but it has. by no means been removed. A Unique Child Identifier still sits at the heart of the Children's Wellbeing and Schools bill @BigBrotherWatch

NOTE: I'm still getting information on this, folks. It's unclear (to me) the implications right now - a few people more familiar with education law have just got up and are explaining on Facebook who this applies to. It's a proposed opposition amendment - not in the Bill.

This is an amendment to the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill that would block parents of SEND kids 'voting with their feet' over unmet needs and inappropriate provision. All 'disabled' children are categorised as 'children in need' - it's a back door attempt to ban home ed.
An amendment being proposed in the Lords to the Children’s Wellbeing & Schools Bill could mean that LA consent would be needed for home ed if a child has ever been CIN or the family has ever been the subject of a s47 enquiry. Disabled children are considered children in need.
