I'll be finishing my wave two of models' varnish applications soon! That means new reveals soon, unfortunately university has been having a toll on me lately so i ask for a bit of patience!
This is crazy, i had this brazilian thomas book for years, it had a slideshow toy with season 10 stills. One of the book's stories is the green controller, and it has the original story line and the missing deleted scenes not uploaded anywhere online.
The Henry's special coal issue being brought back in season 10 isn't that big of a deal and can actually be explained in universe pretty well if you're creative and analyse said episodes closely.
A THREAD (1/)
He's the really useful engine we adore! HE'S FINALLY HERE, a take along/n play scale prop accurate Thomas based on his brass model!
He uses take n play wheels and the siderods do move!
The Dieselworks is a dumb concept that helps to represent visually the engine type racism where steam engines are superior that the nitrogen era loved to use. (1/?)
Thomas Saves the Day is a perfect "anxiety and overcoming the insecurities related to anxiety" story.
To me the ending with the narrator saying the difficult bend wasn't difficult anymore gets me everytime, it's just too relatable and satisfactory.
Fastest and best! At long last Gordon is finished, and with that the eight famous engines are completed! New paint on the faces and shiny eyes as well!
I always hated how none of the diecast ranges got Emily right. So i extended her boiler, gave her a longer footplate, a taller funnel and an extra set of wheels. Now she is much more acurrate and nice looking!
I'm back to work on my models, and as you can see, going for full model acurracy on them! I'll be posting full threads on how they were made when they're finished. Next ones are Percy and Edward, and the valve gears and side rods all move.
Kind old Edward! Second reveal of the batch. Edward was made based on his plastic model (and even has a marklin styled firebox). Same as Thomas, the siderods do move.
A little lesser know fact about Spencer, but during season 12 or after it, he got his buffers painted in a matching silver color akin to his body. This change transitioned to his CGI model.
I'm proud to finally show my scratch built master of the railway! Hiro was made out of thin cardboard and uses a modified take along gordon chassis. He's the longest engine i have ever built, and proud to finally have one of my favorite characters in my collection! 🇯🇵
"An engine hypochondriac who has to burn special coal"
First of all THANK YOU FOR THE 500 FOLLOWERS IT MEANS A LOT TO ME!
Henry is here and here is my second type of working siderods: The valve gear!
Henry was modeled based on his plastic model and has all those marklin details!
Friendly reminder that the sheds have always been 7 berths, the sodor suspension bridge never collapsed and Thomas saves the day never happened in cgi.
"Kind-hearted, easy-going, sticks to the rules etc…"
Duck is one of of my favorite props on the show, and by consequence one of my favorite models i made! Not to mention one of my favorite characters!
Nothing too out of the ordinary for this squareish boy.
Here's my finished Thomas! He's pretty much a regular take n play Thomas with an extended bunker, a new face and details. Face was made out of a take along Percy.
Pratical, peppery and proud! Double deal this time, with two very elegant scottish twins. Donald and Douglas were made using ruler pics from seasons 2 and 8.
I find it shocking how no one comments on how the hit and nitrogen eras were consistent with Gordon and James' new found respect for Edward after their last outbursts in seasons 8 and 9 (A THREAD 1/?)
Happy valentine's day from the red guy that absolutely loves himself!
I was going to show Gordon but he needs a new face, so i'll be jumping the order of the eight famous engines due to that. James was made based on his plastic model and he's definitely one of my favorites!
"He does not bed down at the sheds, does... carry passengers and has... coaches."
I love how aesthetically pleasing Stepney's model is, he's such a neat looking fellow!
I'm proud to finally reveal my model of him!
Is that Duck scene from navigation from some canceled learning segment? I don't think it was shot for the song as not only the character choices here are so weird but this scene has nothing to do with navigation.
"An important Thomas and Friends rule to be reiterated: looks are not as important as what’s inside".
Old Toby is definitely not going to be scrapped!
This model is simple as Toby should be and this time no fancy moving siderods. However i did give him lots of detail!
Didn't know Chef was cannon to T&F! But i do have to wonder if this poster made an intentional reference, given the context and how the words Chef and Coach sound similar.
A small thread;
In 2010, I went to Drayton Manor's Thomas Land.
When I went, they were still building the exhibition layout! I specifically remember trying to go round the one side, but the man who was there still building simply shook his head at me as if to say 'no.'
"Don't call me dirty Percy!"
Who doesn't love him? Definitely one of my favorite models, with a great piston rod movement!
Percy used s1 plastic model orthos from
@jamostrainos
as a reference, although with enlarged cab doors to match the post TATMR look.
Oliver can carry feelings of childlike insecurity – ‘if mom has another baby, she won’t want me anymore’.
After yesterday's reveal, here's another saved from scrap engine!
Oliver is very distinctive, as his prop has these really big wheels, so i had to replicate this here.
(6/6) In conclusion, i hate the dieselworks.
Reject the lame dieselworks and embrace the chad crovan's gate steamworks that doesn't discriminate you and repairs steam, diesel and electric!
Also, i would like to point out every other time in season 8 Henry is seen pulling coaches, they are the red ones (used for local trains).
Also keep in mind Henry at this point of the show had not pulled the actual express ever since season 1.
As some may know, the steamworks was pitched by veteran modelmaker David Eves and despite being called the STEAMworks, it wasn't to represent the fact it's a steam engine only workshop.
"See you later Rattler!"
Here's something a little different, a prop proportion acurrate Diesel made out of a take along one.
Seeing as the take along Diesel just needed to be extended and rounded on the top to be acurrate, it would be unnecessary to build one from scratch.
Well, just finished today, here's my Big Mickey model based on his s6-12 look. Made the crane machine exactly like
@LWesternStudios
did on his! lovely method for sure.
"They are each other’s best friend. They don't carry passengers, and have no carriages - they don't stop and talk to children as Thomas does, or feel part of the community the way Toby does. Their world is the quarry and the docks."
Bill and Ben are finally here and finished.
James gets teased by the signalman, he gets so embarassed that passes a red signal and crashes into Gordon. Toby can not stop in time and crashes into the back of James.
The mouth and the eyes on this one are way too small, leaving it with a ton of empty space that I don't enjoy. The whole thing looks way too puffy as well, with the cheeks and the eyeholes being pushed way too far forward. This looks like botched plastic surgery.
So as this basis is from 1913, and that some examples were converted to standard gauge, Hiro could very well be a modified 9600 JNR, with no continuity issues whatsoever.
1913 makes him one of the first since the NWR was founded in 1915.
Remember when people got pissed at this bio?
And like, why exactly? Oliver's not a badass just because he escaped from the scrap yard, he's a try hard full of insecurity and Toad is usually the one to make him get confident.
If someone asked me if i would ever make a scratch built James a while ago, i would say no. But i finally got tired of james being so short next to Edward so yeah...
Someone along the line just thought:
If ThErE's a stEam woRKs there's a dIeSeL wOrks, thus creating a visual representation of a workshop in ths middle of nowhere with crows all over it to show how diesels are repaired in the shitiest of places because they're evil
"Self-centered, she doesn’t like smelly engine sheds, refuses to pull trucks and is indifferent to all the engines."
Daisy is here to finish the reveals of the day in great style!
"Used for odd jobbing, as well as pulling passengers and freight on the mainline, he’s a softie, a gentle giant."
Here's Boco! The old one made (barely) using ruler pics looked terrible, so using orthos from
@jamostrainos
for the new one was definitely the way to go!
The red smaller ordinary coaches used for branch line trains are finished!!! Ideal to be pulled by any engine in locals and branchlines, with removable roofs.
Can we talk about how this shed is just a good shed and not the works? We always see trucks here and in four little engines Edward heads further down the line and behind the sheds to go to the works.
If you want an episode where Skarloey and Rheneas are perfectly characterised, look no further than Missing Trucks from s10.
Seriously, everyone feels so right in this one.
Can we also talk about how fucking dumb all the diesels' drivers wearing the works uniform is?
What? Are they all works diesels?
Following this logic every steam engine driver has to wear the steamworks uniform
