Channel 4 is publicly owned, not publicly funded. It doesn't cost the tax payer a penny. It also, by charter, commissions content but doesn't make/own its own. It's one of the reasons we have such a thriving indy sector in places like Glasgow. This is the opposite of levelling up

Thanks to @Lawyers4Assange & the growing number of World Leaders calling for an end of the persecution of #Assange & standing up for justice, rule of law & press freedom! In a time of political & moral implosion & denial of reality, what we need is political courage & leadership!

Yesterday I visited him in prison. He is in a dark place. Under circumstances inconsistent with a liberal state's treatment of human beings. But I also met a man who confirms daily Kant's, Ghandi's, Mandela's point: they can chain a man, break his body but never imprison his mind

The Trump administration's single most severe attack on press freedom (by far) is underway in London - the attempt to extradite & prosecute Julian Assange for working with his source to help her avoid detection, something all major media outlets do - and few US journalists care.

The Extradition hearing of Julian Assange has begun. The US is presenting its case today. From my experience the US presentation will be arrogant, unreliable, without candor and totally unethical. History will be kind to Julian Assange, not to his corrupt accusers and Judges.
