And the only remnants of Rin in the regular timeline are her name and her spellcards. A bittersweet ending but I love that idea. Plus I believe Shinki would actually do something like this in canon. Wish I could get the physical doujinshi someday.

Back in Makai, Yumeko asks Shinki if she really has this kind of power, to which she replies that she made it all up. But being able to create worlds, she created an alternate reality where Rin is the one in charge of the incidents to make her dream come true.

She seemingly achieves it, showing zun holding the HRTP floppy with Rin on it and her eventually becoming the face of Touhou Project.

Tl;dr Rin notices the red mist and goes off to intruduce herself to Reimu and Marisa, but gets spirited away to Makai. Shinki decides to help her achieve her "main character" dream by "replacing" her with Reimu in the main games.

Voice actress Masako Ikeda passed away on March 3 due to cerebral hemorrhage. She was 87. The voice actress was best known as Maetel in Galaxy Express 999. Her other roles include Sharon Kaneko in Space Brothers, Reika Ryuzaki in Aim for the Ace!, The Phoenix in The Phoenix

Some identical shots to the storyboard were animated by Shaft for the OVA, but we know that Tobita drew the final storyboard. So Satelight's was just a draft?

Studio Satelight did the storyboard for the original pilot of Papillon Rose. I wonder if they animated the few parts of the pilot that were included in the promotion videos.
