I don't always agree with him, but Rep. Thomas Massie (@MassieforKY/@RepThomasMassie) is perhaps the only Republican in Congress consistently willing to stand up for what he believes. The institution would be better with more people like him compared to the sycophants for Trump.

More Americans want to leave the U.S., especially younger women.

The percentage of younger women in the U.S. who express a desire to migrate permanently has surged in the past decade.

The election for who will represent me in the Virginia House of Delegates was extremely close. Barring splitting Harrisonburg into multiple districts, sooner or later a Democratic candidate will win this seat. Will it happen in two years? Four? Or sometime after that?

Best way to honor our future veterans is to give them fewer (on duty) trips overseas to remember.

Trump and Milei are complete opposites. Trump is a deficit-increasing, tariff loving socialist who literally has gotten the federal government involved with owning key companies and the means of production (Intel, MP Materials, Lithium Americas, Trilogy Metals, U.S. Steel Corp).
Argentine President Javier Milei’s extraordinary electoral victory could be a good omen for American Republicans in 2026.

Unfortunately, far too many elections in the United States feel like we have no meaningful choice. Some cases are more literal than others.

36 years ago the Berlin Wall fell. It serves as an important reminder that a free society doesn’t build border walls to keep people in or out.

I guess this is the current Republican conspiracy theory. As Donald Trump was president at the time, encouraged the events of January 6, and he may have hoped it would lead to a self-coup, I suppose you call it “an inside job”. Sounds sort of like the 9/11 folks though.

Discovered this video from the mayor-elect of NYC. I imagine that most people would think this is a reasonable suggestion. https://t.co/HHCc63rsCL

I worry that this sort of thinking is becoming more common among the far right-wing in the U.S.

I’ve read that they are filming in Wellington. It would be fun to catch a scene if they do any outdoor recording nearby.

Back during the 2016 Republican presidential primary, I said that if Donald Trump won the Republican nomination he would destroy the Republican Party. Well, tonight, in Virginia at least, it appears that he finally has.

What if sitting politicians couldn't run for any office except for re-election to their current one? If they wanted to switch positions, they would first have to resign the office they hold. Might sound strange but it is the norm for whoever is the Attorney General of Virginia.

The night before Election Day, the https://t.co/5D6ViWyS3j markets have Spanberger favored $.96 to $.05, Hashmi $.94 to $.06, Miyeres $.59 to $.48, and Democrats winning at least 58 House of Delegates seats at $.60.

Before the local tea party was corrupted into a wing of the Republican Party, they used to host candidates from all political parties. Here’s a photo from ten years ago of April Moore (D) who was running against Mark Obenshain (R).
