BWALE-33: The transparent tip of a Laser Fiber is very fragile. It can break. Use Nitinol basket to remove it. But remember that we dont need transparent tip. So CUT it with regular scissors. Laser efficiency remains the same, tip visibility is excellent(blue) &no risk of breakage

Great tips from @DissanaikeMD I see HIPAA violations daily on Twitter. If you're a urologist, please read @AmerUrological and @Uroweb statements on use of SoMe. https://t.co/IsPtsAyjGc

.@Urology_tips Recently showed up to TUR to find this on the back table. Appropriately expresses the attitude everyone in urology cases should have towards lubricant, but with less mess than just squeezing whole tube out onto a towel

A clamp beloved by urologists. Great for side biting IVC for thrombus just into cava. Technique by Libertino @LaheyUro: 2βnestedβ Satinskys, 15 blade right on smaller βoutsideβ clamp & remove it: leaves uniform cuff on remaining clamp to run closed. @CanesDavid @uretericbud
The Satinsky vascular clamp was created by American cardiothoracic surgeon Victor Paul Satinsky (1912-1997). After serving as a surgeon in WW2, he joined the Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia (which closed in 2019) and played a role in developing coronary bypass surgery!

Bumping this from a few years ago from @CanesDavid. Great trick, especially with decreased staffing and the strain CBI places on nursing.
Hereβs an oldie but goodie for gross hematuria management. Help your urology nurses! For patients on CBI the drainage bag fills up fast. Take the plastic connector off the bag, and daisy chain a second drainage bag. Gives nurses extra time. They will thank you. #urologypearls

Here is another trick that people love
Tips and Tricks One of the problems we face during HoLEP is when the camera gets wet and foggy. After many iterations, I now use this simple, cheap and waterproof solution: - a finger glove 6.5 covering the tip of the plastic cover of the camera No foggy image after that! π€©
