A post-acute care access double header this week! New in The Gerontologist @geronsociety- this work focused on #Medicare beneficiaries with #Disabilities, exploring how admissions to #SkilledNursing and #HomeHealth changed during #PDPM #PDGM and #COVID19 https://t.co/2YyAVYbEpv

Our work highlights the interconnected nature of SNFs and HHAs, reinforcing how changes in one setting impacts the other. Next steps include looking at specific patient populations targeted by payment reforms - and more. /5

Then #COVID19 changed everything - greatly accelerating the baseline declines in #SNF admissions and increases in #HHA admissions as patients avoided institutional post-acute settings. There was some recovery in #SNF admissions by the end of 2021 - but not back to baseline. 4/

Interestingly, the SNF and HHA payment reforms were associated with small increases in admissions to their respective settings -- suggesting #PDPM and #PDGM did not negatively impact access to post-acute care (for the general Medicare FFS population). 3/
