Huge congrats to our colleague Hans Kamp, who, with Irene Heim (MIT), was awarded the Rolf Schock Prize in Logic and Philosophy by the Royal Swedish Academies of Science, Music and Fine Arts, for their foundational work on dynamic theories of semantics!

Roger Schank, who taught at Stanford, Yale, and Northwestern Universities, passed away at age 76 on January 29, 2023. The New York Times has published an obituary for our alumnus Roger Schank (Ph.D. 1969).

Cristian Juárez successfully defended his dissertation “A typology of valence and valence-like changing mechanisms in Northern Chaco Mocovi (Guaycuruan, Argentina)”. He will be a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig. Congratulations!

Jaime Pérez González (Ph.D., 2021) has accepted a tenure-track position in Linguistics at UC Santa Barbara. He will be on leave, while he finishes his post-doc at Santa Cruz. Then in Fall 2023 he begins his teaching career at Santa Barbara. Congratulations, Jaime!
