The US Navyโ€™s only midget submarine, SS X-1, had an odd setup. It had redundant stations that both controlled heading and depth. Shown about 1:00 minute.

@Tomaspain2 @xformed In my experience, 6 hours. 3 section watch rotation, 6 on, 12 off. However, there are 3 people standing watch for helm/planes. The third is the messenger and you rotate the 3 watchstanders during those 6 hours.
