A 35-acre fire was sparked @ Merced NWR (CA) when a bird 🪹 got too cozy w/ the exhaust pipe on a water pump. Moral? Always inspect equipment prior to use, even for the unexpected & keep suppression tools handy! #PreventWildfires & prevent your workday from going up in smoke!

7/6/94: 14 wildland firefighters lost their lives on Storm King Mountain due to a wildfire. Roger Roth, a smokejumper out of McCall, Idaho, & a firefighter w/ the @USFWS @ @FloridaPantherNWR. We honor Roger & the other 13 firefighters who lost their lives. #NeverForgotten
