The Union of IT and ITES Employees (UNITE) strongly condemns the death of Balaji Thakku, a 39-year-old IT employee, who died by suicide near the Chennai Airport metro station, reportedly due to intense work pressure.

The voice of united workers shattered the chains of bonded labour. In Taramani, a company illegally withheld the original certificates of over 200 employees — holding them hostage. We intervened for an employee who sought our help. We fought back. We won. Certificates returned.
