Our team, together with @PoliceUg have arrested MUNYOLE SAMUEL who was found in illegal possession of government medicine (implant/contraceptives. He was intercepted by NDA team in Kisenyi Bus terminal as he traveled with his consignment from Bushenyi, Southwestern Uganda.

Our operation in districts of Soroti, Ngora, Bukedea, Kaberamaido and Moroto has closed 5 pharmacies, led to arrest of 5 individuals for carrying on the business of a pharmacist without a license, more than 200 boxes of medicines worth over UGX 100 million impounded.

These are the right photos and the affected is a batch, the 30,000 doses that were allowed into Uganda. Recall is part of our regulatory actions to protect the public from products our post-market surveillance find their quality could have been compromised after authorization.
The Government has ordered an immediate nationwide recall of calcium gluconate, a drug used to treat several health conditions, including cardiac arrest, due to safety concerns.

Some of these recovered drugs were tested in NDA laboratory and were found to have no active ingredients, making them impure (substandard/falsefied/counterfeited) and inactive which make them a health risk to animal and humans but also cause economic loss to farmers.

Ms. Lutiro who has been on bail was arrested by NDA on 21 October 2021 illegally distributing unauthorized animal drugs. 14 boxes of assorted classified vet drugs were recovered including dewormers, antibiotics, multivitamins, acaricides and other Antiparasitic drugs.

Breaking: The Magistrate’s Court in Mbale has today sentenced Eunice Lutiro of Butibwa, Namisindwa district to 3 years in prison after finding her guilty of illegally selling impure veterinary / animal drugs and fined her one million Uganda shilling for smuggling animal drugs.

She was taken to Mbarara Grade One Magistrate who sent her on remand until July 01 2025 when her case will be heard. This is part of NDA targeted enforcement against theft of government drugs that has since March 2024 led to recovery of drugs worth over 6 billion UGX. 3/3

She is believed to be working with Rubaya Health Center II in Ibanda & runs a private drugshop in Mbarara City where she was found selling government medicines including Cardiac aspirin, labor inducing drugs for women, multivitamins for malnourished kids, malaria testing kits 2/3

We have arrested a one Tumusiime Harriet, an enrolled comprehensive nurse, a resident of Alliance, Kakooba in Mbarara City who was found in possession of and selling a sorted medicine and medical devices clearly marked of Uganda not for sale. 1/3
