There is much more work to be done in Emergency Medicine to create emergency care that is safe for Indigenous patients and providers alike. We hope this information helps any prospective applicants better understand the context of the land on which we learn and work.

This National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we want to share a special 'did you know' to help you learn more about the land on which our Fraser residency program exists.

People sometimes think that Fraser is a rural site but this is absolutely not the case! Many of our residents choose to live in Vancouver, the North Shore (mountains!), and other surrounding areas in Metro Vancouver while making the short commute to RCH. 🚶‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚝🚗

We're based at Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH), a Level 1 Trauma centre that serves BC's most populous region. RCH is located in New Westminster (part of Metro Vancouver) about 25-30 mins from Vancouver General Hospital, one of the other sites within the UBC FRCPC EM program.
