This TN report on their school voucher program shows why data on these programs is so important for us to know what students participate, where they go and how they are learning. The TX program needs stronger data reporting rules to provide this type of transparency.
Tennessee’s Education Savings Account program was promoted as an option to help students from low-income families leave struggling public schools. A new report shows most kids getting ESA funding don’t match that description.

“Given Odyssey’s track record of operational mismanagement & misuse of state funds in much smaller voucher programs, Texans should sound the🚨about the Comptroller’s decision to entrust Odyssey with $1 billion of our taxpayer dollars & the educational outcomes of our children"

Our Facing Facts report estimates Austin ISD lost $624m to charters in 2020-2024. From transport (which 47% of charters spend $0 to provide) to teachers (most of whom aren't req'd to be certified at charters), a district can't just cut costs $ for $. https://t.co/UKdEW8ZzQe

.@AustinISD lost 3k students last year, which district, local advocates say is due to charters, high prices, poor district communication and immigration fears. Enrollment dipped under 70k for first time since 90s. W/ @emilianotahui #txed #austinschools
