Many have asked, and after a bunch of procrastinating, we put together a map of the various regions of Texas we mention most in our weather forecasts and coverage... Hopefully, these graphics will be helpful! 📷
642AM: Our chase team is abandoning/evacuating Larose, LA and heading north. This town is not survivable in a high-end Cat 4+ hurricane. Town is "sticks and tin" (wood and tin construction) and will be full of flying debris. Lots of folks did not evacuate and are still in town.
We don’t ask for your help very often, but we need your prayers tonight.

(Jason Cooley) was involved in a major vehicle collision earlier today. He was released from the hospital this afternoon, but his young daughter suffered critical injuries and is in the ICU.
Around 905-910PM a meteorite was observed by many across Oklahoma and at least the northern half of Texas. Also hearing reports of a ‘boom’ in parts of Texoma and Northeast Texas.
Four years ago today, our own Jenny Brown and her chase partner, professional Dallas photographer Justin Terveen, captured the image of a lifetime just south of Pampa in the Texas Panhandle. What an incredible image and chase!

We know it’s been a tough few days, however please don’t message us and demand we turn on your power. We have 0 affiliation with any power company. Please stay safe everyone.
Soooo….. remember about four months ago when we were all freezing without power and setting all time record low temperatures?
Yeah… Thursday will be about 100-115 degrees warmer than that. Hopefully the power grid is stabilized, because summer is here.

Both Dallas and Fort Worth fire departments are INUNDATED with grass fires. Literally, radio channels as busy as the 2020 ice storm.
Folks - there are DOZENS of grass fires working in D/FW right now. I don't even know how bad it is elsewhere in Texas.
Sounds like a generic 'blue alert' went out to all mobile devices across Texas. Generally, those are supposed to be issued with specific information about a law enforcement emergency, so it is unknown what is going on yet or if it is a valid notification.
All six of our chasers in Southeast Louisiana are good! Three have made it to hotels, three will likely be spending the night in their 'shelter' location.
All have multiple days of supplies and are self-sufficient. When going into a disaster zone, don't become part of it!

Pray for Canadian, Texas, and those who couldn't get out of town in time. (This doesn't necessarily mean the town is on fire - resolution isn't high enough for that - but it sure isn't good.)

At 7 PM there are 3,845,168 customers without electricity in Texas. Like last night, tonight will feature the coldest weather we've seen in 30+ years. I'm sorry we can't give better news. I really am.
Human lives aren't the only ones affected by Sally. Jason and Alex found this little guy battling the storm surge. We can only imagine what he went through last night. Other than shock, he seems ok.
New fire map update... The
#SmokehouseCreekFire
will go down as the largest recorded wildfire in
#Texas
state history. This fire spread eastward on Tuesday at mind-boggling speeds. After that, a cold front slammed the area from the north and pushed the entire fire-line southward.
I don't care where risk zones are drawn, I don't care what risk level you're in, etc. If you're in *ANY* risk level or color - that means pay attention to the weather. Don't worry about specific probabilities or where they're drawn. Any storms certainly won't care. [/soapbox]

313AM: Do not attempt to approach Downtown Dallas, espucially from the south, east, or north, due to major urban flash flooding. Most roads, including I-30 and I-45 in the Canyon, are under water and impassable. Dallas Fire is working non-stop water rescues.

About as good of a photo as we're gonna aim for at 3 AM in PJs, slippers, and a 23 degree wind chill. A beautiful view on a beautiful night. ~David

It finally happened... At least parts of all 254 counties in Texas are under either a winter storm watch or winter storm warning.
All of Texas is under the gun for significant winter weather over the next several days.

As of 3:24AM there are now 1,408,377 customers without electricity in Texas. Rotating blackouts may continue for a while unless additional power generating capacity if found or energy use decreases. Most 'spare' capacity was eliminated because many wind turbines are frozen...
Boy I’ll tell ya I’m glad schools are already closed on Monday 🥶🥶 The predicted morning lows have trended down another degree or two across the state of

Congratulations, Texas. We've officially managed to hit 100 degrees in February. Not in Big Bend or the Rio Grande Plains, but right in Central Texas. Welcome to August in February. ~David

TEXAS SOLAR ECLIPSE FORECAST (Valid 11am CDT April 3, 2024)
The total solar eclipse is in FIVE DAYS. The likelihood of cloud cover across the path of totality in TEXAS is HIGH. Unfortunately chances are dwindling anyone in Texas will get a clear view of this awesome phenomenon
937PM: Do *NOT* go to Arlington to sight-see. Search and rescue operations (simply to check damaged areas at a minimum) are underway by emergency crews. Do not clog roadways.
#dfwwx
On April 8, 2024 the Great American Solar Eclipse will occur and feature Texas as part of the path of totality. The duration of the total eclipse will last up to 4 minutes and 27 seconds in the highlighted pathway. Make your plans to see this eclipse in totality!

Just heard from our folks (Adam, Ben, Stephen) in Rolling Fork, MS. They are involved in search and rescue operations. Ben is a firefighter & EMT; so they're doing all they can to help folks. Very hard to get cell data.
(Our chasers are fine)
Folks need to understand that when we do these kind of intercepts, involving high-end hurricanes, we have thresholds - if those are exceeded, we move to secondary location. Hence why our team arrived Saturday morning. They scout out multiple locations. We're crazy, not suicidal.

To those sending mean messages to meteorologists sharing life-saving information...
Don't make us use our super-duper weather radar to redirect the next softball size hail storm to your street. Maybe one of those hailstones will knock some sense into you.

This was the scene dangerously close to Pampa, Texas two years ago this evening. An unprecedented late fall tornado outbreak in the eastern Texas Panhandle.

Did you miss what happened just up Interstate 30 in Greenville, or the large hail in Collin County? We made it extremely clear in our videos and blogs yesterday and today that not everyone would be impacted by severe storms. I don't forecast for a literal backyard.

@TxStormChasers
This is the 2nd time in 2 months Dallas has been extremely warned about large hail and high winds and nothing happens, not even a clap of thunder...This has to get better or people will stop paying attention to the forecast.
Thank you!

Today or tomorrow: It is
But it costs too much money to winterize our power infrastructure…
But it only happens once every ten years…
Enough! Fix the problem or get the heck out of the way. That goes for elected officials (hi voters…) and those in private corporations.
Carrol Anderson's oxygen machine stopped working soon after he lost power. The 75yo war vet turned to his last resort to breathe: A portable oxygen tank he kept in his truck.
He died in his truck Tues. It was 19 degrees outside. Wow. via

Note to agencies.. when sending out an emergency notification to 29 million Texans across the second largest state in the country (aka: a huge area of land) - it might help to mention details versus making non-affiliated groups (aka, us) spend 15 minutes looking.
Do better.
There is a current BLUE ALERT out of the Wichita Falls area, but we cannot confirm if this is related to the emergency message since the message was too broad. Here are some details on the alert:
A severe thunderstorm watch was in place hours before the storm arrived - and a severe thunderstorm warning was issued 15+ minutes before arriving in N Dallas.
This is a great reminder that everyone should have a way to receive weather warnings. Apps, weather radios, etc.
#txwx
Dude what just happened. My neighborhood in N Dallas is a complete disaster. No warning, came out of nowhere while we were outside. Had to have been something close to tornado. River running down our street, trees down everywhere, massive hail, really bad here. House standing.
Roads may be melting today, but make no mistake about it, whatever is on roads tonight will freeze over. They will be slicker than the upcoming blame-game on this week's power meltdown.
TEXAS SOLAR ECLIPSE FORECAST (Valid 11am April 6, 2024)

Woah nelly… a bit of rain on Thursday, a whole lot more rain come Sunday and into next week. We’ll see how the forecast trends, but it’s been a very long time since we’ve had so many bright colors that wasn’t on a surface temperature map.
