What an honor it is to know this man and call him my friend. Exemplary Marine..exemplary American…exemplary human being, Don Graves. Today marks his 100th birthday and being able to celebrate with him today is something I’ll never forget. Happy birthday my friend. God bless you
Today we celebrate Don Graves' 100th birthday! This Iwo Jima Marine survived the brutal 36-day battle with a 72-pound flamethrower on his back. On Feb 19, 1945, face-down in the sand, he made a promise: "God, if you get me off this island, I'll serve you." He kept that promise.
