Regional committee voted 15 to 1 in favour of a full light rail extension of ION to downtown Cambridge! To be fully ratified on November 19, but this is huge and a united front will help make the case for funding. We live posted the meeting here:

Fun Fact: Ever heard of the proposed GO Transit Kitchener-London Line? This line was proposed by the Government of Ontario in 2014 as a way to enhance transit connectivity between these cities after the Toronto-London High Speed Rail Line opened. This line was never built.

Update: yesterday the Region of Waterloo finalized the budget without any more changes to the transit items. That is: most cuts averted, monthly fares still increasing, garbage cans will still be emptied, and there's even some expansions.

The Region of Waterloo budget is not final yet, but Councillors fortunately did not have much appetite for cutting any Grand River Transit service. Many more details here:
