Not the official pic but much the nicest. Full of the King’s champagne and a ‘good’ lunch this is probably the only time Alan Brooke was caught smiling.
Winston Churchill with his chiefs of staff in the garden of No. 10 Downing Street, on the day Germany surrendered to the Allies. 7th May 1945.

We love FTT. They do such good work in breeding trees that will have both a high conservation value and also provide a return for the land manager when they mature. Well worth supporting!.
CHOOSE IMPROVED:. The following nurseries grows its own supply of trees from improved seed, which is supplied by Forestart Limited including Qualified Silver #Birch Wild #Cherry & #Sycamore. For more info;

Is that not the wrong type of acacia, Simon? We use Robinia Pseudoacacia as treestakes - I think your photo is real Acacia (Wattle). Nonetheless, Robinia is extremely durable as well.
Amazing #acacia is so strong it props up buildings. Safe to say it props up your #treeshelter for as long as will ever be needed! #treeplanting #woodlands

Over 5m young trees, ordered last autumn by forest managers in Scotland, now being burnt on nurseries. Abject failure between FMs and @ForestryLS to get planting schemes to the start line. These losses are unsustainable - please work it out! #whatawaste.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement, Richard. We still have available good numbers of Beech, Oaks, Aspen, Alders, Willows, Haw and Blackthorn and smaller numbers of most other species despite many millions of B/Ls already sold. All UK grown.

We can already offer these. Fully biodegradable spirals with absolutely no oil based plastics which have been out on test for the last couple of years and have performed well. Currently 60cms but 1.2m coming for this winter.
Looking for suggestions for biodegradable tree guards, please - suitable for use in the Welsh hills.

Thought I had learnt something new about the sex life of bees when I read the first paragraph. It takes a little practice to read an ‘f’ as an ‘s’. Quite right, however, that a resilient nursery sector is as important as a smiling bee. .
Fascinating. Source via @FlyingQuercus: recommends as early as 1764 that a resilient nursery sector should be supported by Government to ensure the multiple benefits they bring. Growing "Timber trees of all sorts, foreign & domestic; wood for joiners. & Apple trees for Cyder"!
