Meet Sally, the sparrow hawk! 😊 Fun fact: it has been reported that sparrowhawks can actually hear the tiny squeaks of their prey (small birds like skylarks) even when they are hidden beneath heather. #discoverlindow #lindowman #sparrowhawk

Fabulous news. N. Scotland’s “Flow Country”—a vast region of blanket bog, textured as tapestry & ecologically astonishing—is now a World Heritage site. Flat, self-similar landscapes (fen, bog, moor) often struggle w/ legibility & conservation. Brilliant to see this recognition.

Timeline cleanse. Around the world, boglands have endured fluctuations and chaos for thousands of years. Misunderstood and vilified, they have protected carbon, water, and even humans in need. We need all the heroes we can get. I vote for bogs.

1/3 Given the notable insect decline across most of the UK I urge all farmers, councils & landowners to delay cutting meadows, road verges etc to at least August @BumblebeeTrust have already said numbers of queen bumbles in spring were ok. We are now all seeing a lack of workers
