In this photo, crews install rebar to prepare for a concrete pour on the south side of the bridge deck. Now that deck panels are installed, rebar is installed before concrete is poured over top, connecting all deck components.

Here’s a close-up of April’s final concrete deck pour for the south approach. The light grey concrete seen in the middle of the photo is freshly poured concrete. Near the bottom of the photo, burlap covers newly poured concrete to support the curing process.

Here’s a close-up view of the bridge’s south approach in @CityofSurrey. To build the on-land bridge deck, large steel beams called girders are installed to connect the bridge foundations. Once the girders are in place, precast concrete deck panels are installed on top.
