Thank y'all so much for your kind words. Sincerely.
I need to step away for today, so apologies if I don't respond. There are so many touching messages that I worry I won't be able to appreciate them if I try to process everything now.
Love you all. Stay safe. Talk soon. -T
Thank you all for the incredible listener love that enveloped myself & the Grove family this month. It is felt & appreciated. And thank you to
@Wolves
for this amazing tribute in time for Daryl’s birthday today. “Out of darkness cometh light” -Shannon
I just remembered the time Daryl went to a Halloween party dressed as The Hex, complete with "spooky" stickers. Only one person knew what he was, but they immediately yelled, "OH GOD NO!" Good stuff. -T
Also, some people have asked about fundraisers. I wasn't planning this, I swear, but a dear friend has set up a GoFundMe page and so I'll share the link below. Please don't feel any pressure to donate. But if you wish to contribute, this is the place: -d
Daryl tended to mute or watch games in Spanish (which he didn’t speak) so he didn’t have to pay attention to what was being said. Unless Stu was on the broadcast. Then he’d keep it on. True story. I know that tweet would have made him chuckle. Thanks
@stuholden

Happy International Daryl Grove Day!
I can think of one way the USMNT can help us all celebrate. Love you all and hoping for a good day to help honor a wonderful human. -T
Incredible. Thank you so much to
@USMNT
and
@FOXSports
for their amazing support. Daryl would indeed be so VERY VERY hyped for this one... especially since it’s an opportunity to beat Wales. -T
I say this as a Man United fan... every club that announced their intention to leave should be banned from the Champions League next year, at least. Give it to West Ham, Leicester, Everton and Leeds, and then see how it matters to clubs who don't see it as their birthright. -T
I mentioned this in today's intro. One of my favorite Daryl moments. Thanks to
@csgfunk
for retweeting it just now, thereby reminding me to do the same. -T
We recently received a one-star iTunes review calling us "soft" and I am proudly, defiantly taking it as a compliment. The world needs more softness. -d
Seeing a lot of “Jesse Marsch should take over for Berhalter” takes. First off, we shouldn’t fire Berhalter. But secondly, if you think Marsch is leaving a gig like Leipzig for the US National team anytime soon, I’ve got a harsh truth for you. -T

Huge thanks to everyone who's reached out in the past 24 hours. It's been overwhelming, in the best possible way. Really means a lot that people took the time to reach out and share their feelings of positivity and encouragement. Thank you, thank you, thank you. -d
McKennie and Pulisic’s celebrations feel weirdly important. In my (overthinking?) head, they represent the return of joy to the USMNT, both for the players and for those of us watching. Watching this, it feels like a corner is finally being turned. -d
My affection toward and respect for MLS has been growing slowly but surely over recent years. For all its flaws, MLS has given soccer fans teams to be part of. But if the league lets the Crew move to Austin, it changes everything. I'll be anti-MLS forever. -d
Reminder that no matter what happens tonight, Sergiño Dest plays for both the United States and Barcelona.
Was searching for happy thoughts and that one popped in there. -T
Daryl would be the first to tell him that results don’t matter... unless it’s a wildly important game in Trinidad. Then Owen should DEFINITELY try to win. Otherwise, he’d be glad he had a good day enjoying the game! -T
I'd like to thank everyone who listened to us throughout the Euros!
I was nervous for my first tournament w/out Daryl, but
@grahamruthven
@joeclowery
and
@RyanJayBailey
put in the work and made it all go so, so smoothly. I couldn't really have enjoyed the last month more! -T
Mentioned this on the quick take: If you’ve ever wondered why people get frustrated about Yueill not playing on the half turn, this is it. Acres of space behind, but his first touch takes him lateral and his second takes him back. -T
Thanks fellas. That was very kind of you. Daryl, always thinking like a CB, would also appreciate that it was 0-0 when y’all took the time to remember him. -T
Tony and I never got the chance to meet Daryl Grove, but we felt like we knew him through listening to the
@TotalSoccerShow
. We wanted to make sure to pay our respects to him and his family during our broadcast last night. ❤️

Lost in the Arriola red card incident is that Damion Lowe should have gotten a yellow for that foul on Pepi after the ball was gone. Which would have later meant a red card when he got his second yellow… which should have also been red. -T
Gonna be honest for a second and just say that I miss Daryl a lot, and it means so much that other people do too. Makes it a little harder to handle knowing it’s a collective experience, even if it’s a sad one. Thank you
@ScreamingEagles
!!! -T
Really and truly astounded by the response to this. Deep and sincere thanks to everyone who’s contributed, both financially and by sharing. The American soccer community is incredible. I’m so grateful to have found it and to be part of it. -d
Weekend Review with
@RyanJayBailey
available now! Real Madrid get it right in El Clasico, Lampard (mostly) does the same against Man United, and Dortmund make a statement against Schalke. -T
Y’all. I’m so excited for the USMNT to begin World Cup qualifying. It has been a BLEAK few years since Couva. I don’t have a ton of pride in this country at present.
But I also believe the national teams are meant to be a representation of what the US is supposed to be.
Thanks y'all. Agree with everything you said. He is indeed pretty terrific.
Also the longest I've ever heard Gass be quiet. Broadcast history right there. -T
@TotalSoccerShow
Still miss you Daryl. Figured today at the game even though we can’t have fans, I’d pay tribute in my own way, see you at the End of The Line.
If there are more moments like the ones I’ve been RTing, please keep sending them my way.
I’d like to post as many as possible as they happen, but (not to be too much of a downer) I’m not used to being the only one checking our feed. -T
Pulisic and Chelsea lose to Bournemouth. Sargent, Dest out injured. Yedlin on the bench. McKennie separates a shoulder. Steffen and Dusselforf blitzed at home by an Adams-less Leipzig. Not the best weekend for Americans Abroad. -T
OH MY GOD,
@alywagner
is the absolute greatest. Replay of that Quaresma tackle.
Wagner: "No where near the ball."
(Sees Q's knee crush Ezatolahi's groin) "The soccer ball."
Everyone remember that time people (especially English media, as I recall) got angry when the
#USWNT
beat Thailand 13-0 in a World Cup? Just checking. -T
Happy International Daryl Grove Day everyone! We honor the man, and then do some Weekend Reviewing: Rangnick makes his move, Vinicius Jr. lifts Real Madrid over Sevilla, Orange County win silverware in the USL Championship, RSL keep RSL-ing, and more! -T
Disclaimers about quality of opponent aside, the last 2 games are the best McKennie has looked for the US, right? He’s had bigger moments, but in terms of consistency and creation, McKennie was very, very good this break. -T
Been trying to do some realistic thinking about the Wales game, and here's where I'm at... after the US wins the World Cup in 2026 and a movie is inevitably made a/b the program's turnaround, what actor is gonna play
@TaylorTwellman
screaming "what are we doing!?" -T
Honduras BY FAR the better team. And we’ve now gone 225 minutes of me not knowing whose US team this is. Everyone just looks pissed to be here. And not even “motivated pissed.” More like, “I can’t wait for this to be over so I can go back to my club” pissed. -T
I’ve heard a few people talk about Daryl’s “devilish” smile when you knew he had something good to say. If you hadn’t seen it, it’s captured here. Thanks for that Tony! -T
The first line of my podcast is “Hello and thank you... “ an homage to Daryl Grove’s “hello and welcome” on
@TotalSoccerShow
without trying to be a strict copycat- but it always seemed like the perfect podcast opening (pic from a live taping in Philly).
Wandering around tailgates for a bit before the game was a nice reminder that I’m really fortunate to get to do what I do for a living.
And that so many people came up to me with really thoughtful and kind words a/b Daryl had me emotional on the walk to the stadium. -T
All in for the 🔴, ⚪️ & 🔵❗️

Jesse Marsch wins a Champions League game and suddenly
@darylgrove
gets to go home from the hospital. I have to assume the two are related. What a manager! -T
One more ep this week, and it's a departure from our norm.
@quraishi
basically interviews me about Daryl, how I'm doing, and the future of TSS (spoiler: we ain't going anywhere). Not much soccer chat in there, so if you're here for analysis, feel free to skip. Thanks y'all. -T
Russia sure are unbelievably fit... like... they run so much I have a hard time believing they're physically capable of doing it. It's like they had rocket fuel injected into them or something... -T
Hi everyone! I talked into a microphone about soccer for the first time in 3 weeks, and that's the longest I've gone without doing so since... 2013? It was genuinely great to be back and lovely to answer some LQs w/
@joeclowery
Episode out later today! -T
An American teenager starting for Wolves would have been a bright spot on the year for Daryl. Feels only right for our house to be appropriately hyped! @ Richmond, Virginia
If you think Musah bails on this team after these results, getting as many minutes as he did, and having as much fun as this squad seemed to... I get it, b/c we’re always going to be anxious. But I think this went about as well as it possibly could have. -T
@TBRock00
@TotalSoccerShow
Thought you might like to see these old photos of Daryl getting close to the action at Molineux. Taken around ten years ago with Gary his brother in law
Arteta should just pull a Costanza. Casually walk over to the Man City bench, sit down, start getting involved in the tactics debate, and then just act like he never actually left. -T
Genuinely looking forward to the USMNT game this afternoon. Been a while since we could say that. Don’t want to jinx it and am kmocking on wood, but the thought of watching a US team that plays good-looking football fills me with joy. -d
OK, I'm very sad about the Duane Holmes injury, but here's three reasons to watch the USMNT at the Gold Cup:
1. Christian Pulisic's first international tournament as a starter.
2. Weston McKennie's first ever international tournament.
3. Tyler Boyd showing us what he's got.
-d
Times are scary and getting scarier. If it helps at all, we will keep putting out pods 5-days-a-week until we run out of stuff to talk about... which won’t ever happen. Love you all and stay safe! -d&T
I know like 5 people who got into soccer b/c of the World Cup, and then stayed w/ it b/c they then found Welcome to Wrexham and loved it.
I know a couple more who got into it b/c of the World Cup and then decided to start going to MLS games more frequently.
Both are cool. -T
I’d love for Berhalter to go for a USMNT mini roster overhaul in November for home game v Canada. An uninjured Adams, Altidore, Brooks, and maybe Weah; a recalled Holmes and Pomykal; a cap-tie-ready Dest and I could feel optimistic again. -d
Back in the TSS office/studio today for Liverpool vs Bayern and Lyon v Barcelona. Not going to play it cool, am VERY excited to return, a bit like Virgil vin Dijk will be for the second leg. -d
Hoping to have our
#USMNT
roster review episode published in the next hour or so.
@joeInCleats
and I figured it might be good to have a soccer-related distraction tonight. -T
“He’s not a good athlete.” - Said about a man who just won Serie A as a pivotal midfield figure and took this team to the World Cup Final by leading Croatia’s midfield past England. But sure, English commentator. He’s poor. -T
A lot of people excited about Paxton Pomykal’s potential senior USMNT call-up this fall. I’m on that hype train and have already visited the dining car and bought an overpriced sandwich. But I’m also thinking he might be THE player to build our Olympic qualifying team around. -d
Huge respect to Kyle Martino for sharing this and for using his profile to positively impact how people perceive depression. Every interaction we’ve had with Kyle we’ve seen someone who’s always thinking about others. -d
