Weak cop out. Haters -and there are haters- are a very small %. The bulk of consumers are regular non terminally online people, and they just want to be entertained. If your product fails it's not because they must hate women/minorities/etc, it's because it didn't appeal to them.
@Toshi_TNE Modern haters are. For some reason there's a horde of internet users who like to invent reasons for hating female characters which they would never say if the genders (or skin colours) were switched.
