Today is International Women’s Day, but this year, it is shadowed by the freedom that women have lost in America to make their own choices and shape their own lives.

Even doctors themselves can't find primary care doctors in Rhode Island. Here's what's driving the shortage.

Congratulations @SethMagaziner! Looking good on what must be a very exciting day for you! @RIMedSoc
Welcome to the House, @SethMagaziner! (Sorry we didn’t get to swear you in today – we need a Speaker to do that.)

Thanks, @LianaCassar (for this and for everything you've put into your work over the last few years) and @bridget4ri for this important legislation. #DoingtheRightThing for our fellow Rhode Islanders!
The governor has signed into law legislation sponsored by @LianaCassar & @bridget4ri to ensure that pregnant individuals are guaranteed to have access to health insurance. RI now joins VT, NY & CA in providing this coverage. https://t.co/mLfzkju4oq

Friends can give friends #COVID19, family members can give family members #COVID19, nice people can give nice people #COVID19. Be considerate: Test yourself periodically, wear a mask, stay home with cold symptoms. (#LongCovid can be really awful!) Just sayin'

Thanks @ACPinternists for reminding why I love the practice of medicine for the people (colleagues and patients!) but also for the science at #IM2022

Thanks to @ACPinternists member @FutureDocs for this research with your colleagues. We have SO MUCH more to do to achieve gender equity in health care. #WomenInMedicine
Female doctors make $2 million less over a 40-year career than their male counterparts, new research estimates. More men become surgeons and women have been shown to spend more time with their patients, leading to fewer services that can be billed for. https://t.co/Ra0Xf91AQQ

Save lives! Protect the frail! Help the economy in the long term! It's our values that drive our recommendation for universal masking. "The science" alone won't do it. Let's state our values and own them, then make policy. @RIMedSoc @RISpeaker @GovDanMcKee
.@RISpeaker on calls for a mask mandate "I think we should follow the science, and whatever the Dept of Health recommends. ... If the science is recommending us to wear mask indoors, if that's what the Dept of Health [says], then I'll follow that"

Congratulations @gaylegoldin, and thanks for all you've done for Rhode Island! You'll be great!
From @GayleGoldin: "Moments ago, I submitted my resignation to Secretary Gorbea and Senate President Ruggerio, effectively immediately. I’m honored to be joining the Biden-Harris administration today as Senior Advisor, US Department of Labor Women’s Bureau." More to come

I put this out there yesterday as a question really: should @RIHouseofReps @RISenate and perhaps other public entities continue to allow remote testimony, in addition to in-person testimony? Anyone know if this is done successfully elsewhere?
Too bad from this reporter's perspective that RI cannot continue with hybrid meetings that give people a chance to testify remotely, instead of waiting their turn to testify at the State House for hours in many cases, on hardbacked plastic chairs.
