With a maximum depth of 423.4m, Lake Tazawa is the deepest lake in Japan. The lake absorbs the heat of the sun during the warm season and releases it during the winter. Because deep lakes hold a lot of water, they store a lot of heat, so they don't freeze in winter. #田沢湖

Cherry blossoms in the Kanto region, including Tokyo, reach their peak in late March every year. However, some types of cherry trees bloom earlier. A prime example of this is the Kawazu cherry blossoms on the Izu Peninsula. I visited here two years ago.

On the last day of our trip around Lake Biwa last December, we went to Kyoto to return to Tokyo by bullet train. The departure time of the reserved Shinkansen was after 4 pm, so before that, we visited Fushimi Inari Shrine. It was my second visit the shrine.

A torii is a large gate that stands at the entrance of a shrine and is often used as a symbol of Japan and Japanese culture. Generally, the gate at the entrance represents the boundary between the sacred place inside the shrine and our everyday lives. #鳥居

Although it was severely damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, it became a refuge for people and saved more than 10,000 people. Anyway, every time you visit, you will discover the new beauty of this garden. It is a few minutes walk from Kiyosumi Shirakawa Subway Station.

Once I got a question about why such large number of Japanese are atheists. I made a YouTube video to answer that. However, this is the first one in the series. I will talk about the characteristics of Japanese religion and culture in this series.

"Midnight Diner" is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yaro Abe. It is about a late-night diner, open from midnight to dawn, and its lovely patrons. Netflix Japan produced live-action adaptation series. I’m really into this series now.

This year, my work ends at around 3:00 pm every Thursday. The weather was nice today, so I took a walk in Shinjuku Gyoen on my way home from work. Azaleas are starting to bloom a little in the park. There were quite a lot of foreign tourists there. #新宿御苑 #ツヅジ

From December 25th to 29th, I traveled around Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture. On the 26th, Hikone was hit by a record heavy snowfall, and I shot a video around Hikone Castle. #彦根 #大雪 #彦根城

On the last day in Kyoto, we enjoyed Hozugawa River Cruise. It's a sightseeing boat rides down the Hozugawa River from Kameoka to Arashiyama. The cruises utilize traditional style, flat bottomed boats piloted by boatmen who guide the craft with oars and bamboo poles. #保津川下り

Following the government's declaration of a state of emergency, the opening of my school was postponed to May 7. The photo shows a cherry blossom called Yae Sakura (double-flowered cherry) in a nearby park that was in full bloom compared to 3 days ago (last photo).

Ritsurin Garden in Kagawa is one of my favorite Japanese gardens. Unlike the gardens in Tokyo, it is not surrounded by buildings. In the video, You can see the beauty of the Japanese garden integrated with the surrounding mountains.

Under the conditions of coronavirus, it's now possible to stay at luxury hotels at a reasonable price. So yesterday, my wife and I stayed overnight at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo. Chinzanso Garden belongs to this hotel. Founded in 1877, this garden is rich in historic ruins and crafts.

Shrines are for Shinto and temples are for Buddhism. Japan's indigenous religion Shinto is originating from the nonliterate Jomon period. So, Shinto has no founder, no dogma, and no scripture. Buddhism came to Japan in the 6th century. Photos: Nezu Shrine and Zojo Temple in Tokyo

Now it’s 11:20 P.M. in Tokyo, and still snowing. Tokyo has snow at least once a year, but usually melt without accumulating. This time by tomorrow morning, up to 25 centimeters of snow is expected here. Photos were taken at a small park next to my house.

I hope the threat of the new coronavirus will disappear soon. And I pray that the next world will be a peaceful one in which each country values its own tradition and respects each other's traditions. Excessive globalism, especially the movement of too many workers, is dangerous.

Shinto considers human beings to be pure and honest in nature. But, while being alive, he is polluted. Purifying this dirt has a big meaning in Shintoism. So, when visiting a shrine, first purify your hands and mouth. Shinto may have influenced the cleanliness of Japanese people.
