Here are snapshots of Broadmoor's microgrid at 6am & 2pm. Starting at 66%, after running all night on batteries, the site ran off-grid all day. By 2pm, the solar had produced enough juice to power the site AND re-charge the battery to 83%.

We're often asked, "For how many hours or days can Community Lighthouses operate during an outage? " Our response has been "indefinitely" -- which sometimes raises eyebrows. But you can see in the next post why that's realistic.

If you watched that screen recording, you saw the role load management plays in good back-up systems. The SPAN system is pre-programmed to drop to "must-have" circuits when the system goes off grid. That feature increased Broadmoor's battery life from 7 hours to 31 hours.

In short, great! Here's the status of Broadmoor, which lost power at about 6pm. It's got 31 hours of battery left. Plenty to get it to daytime, when the PV system will recharge the battery.
