The Bereans wisely tested that which Paul the apostle proclaimed. We can rightly assume this included his exposition of the law and prophets, his personal testimony of saving faith, and the evidence of his Christ-converted heart and life. May we aspire to nothing less.
Scripture can be twisted and used out of context to corrupt or to control humans who assume that a pastor is a trustworthy person. This power is intensified by the fact that many see a minister as speaking for God—indeed, a pastor may tell people that they are doing exactly that.

As I watch a wedding rehearsal, I’m reminded of the beauty of Catholic churches/cathedrals. I understand why leaders in my Reformed, Stone-Campbell, and Baptist heritage rejected the trappings of icons and high church pageantry; yet these places evoke a sense of wonder and awe.

I got to begin celebrating my granddaughter’s birthday by praying with her and her mom and grandmother, and let me tell you they were deeply theological prayers. We went from thanking God for the cross to praising Him for sprinkles in Jesus’ pockets in a flash. 😂 🙏 🤲.

A bad idea, indeed.
He was tortured by the Puritans for refusing to pay a fine. Why the fine? He was fined for hosting a worship service in someone's home and teaching doctrine contrary to the Puritans. Other so-called "believers" lashed Holmes. This history serves as a reminder that Christian.
