As #WaterQualityMonth comes to a close, let's remember that good water quality provides habitat for many aquatic species. The threatened Neuse River Waterdog is found only in North Carolina, and this salamander's range includes the Eno River watershed.

DEAPR will be hosting rain barrel workshops where you can learn about the use of rain barrels, their installation, and the environmental benefits. Interested in participating? Scan the QR Code to be notified on upcoming workshops and related events.

Fresh water mussels are important to our aquatic ecosystems here in Hillsborough. Good water quality in our streams provides habitat for these species, and in turn, they help us maintain and even enhance that good water quality. #NationalWaterQualityMonth.
Next time you enjoy clear, clean waters, thank a mussel! These freshwater-filtering friends play a special role in keeping the environment healthy, so it's a serious concern that 300 species of freshwater mussels are among the most vulnerable animals in North America. 📷 USFWS

Algal blooms occur easily during hot summer weather in still or slow-moving water. Too much algae is toxic to humans and their pets! Algal blooms can also kill fish, disrupt ecosystems, and lead to higher water treatment costs. #NationalWaterQualityMonth

August is #NationalWaterQualityMonth! Our stormwater program is part of a much larger effort to protect water resources that began in the 1970s. What we do every day affects our water quality. Take a moment to learn about water quality and what you can do!
