I do believe 2025 is one of the more hateful Minneapolis elections I’ve seen. The level of xenophobia, Islamophobia, and racism the incumbent campaign was able to capitalize on is something Democrats across the state should sit with. It’s indistinguishably right wing.

With unofficial precinct statistics posted, we can finish off the chart of how Minneapolis wards' early voting stacked up. Not only did some wards use early voting more than others, the pattern across the weeks varies substantially from ward to ward.

I'll still say it, Jacob Frey's campaign staffers acted like incredible, demeaning douchebags. I'd seen no other candidate's staff treat people the same way. It speaks volumes about a candidate who'd employ people like them. Time to bring kindness back to campaigning.

We are already at the second highest turnout for a Minneapolis municipal election in history, and there's still a few hours left.

Evening voter turnout update! We estimate that more than 116,196 Minneapolis voters have cast a ballot as of 5 p.m., including early/ absentee votes and in person Election Day votes. Polls are open until 8 p.m.! If you are in line by 8 p.m you can still vote. Stay in line!

The year is 2060. The children beg for my stories. "Grandpa Wedge, how did the heroes of 2025 stand up to the bad guys." I tell them about the ragtag team of Frey guys, dirtbag real estate types, and Trumpers who unmasked Emily Koski and Katie Cashman as members of the evil DSA.

Based on this, it's looking like we're running about 10% behind 2021 turnout totals. On track for ~130k or so if the general timing of turnout holds from that year.
