🚨 Whilst we're deeply relieved nobody was hurt and the situation was quickly brought under control, we hope the irony of COP30 experiencing floods and fires is not lost on negotiators. This is a tiny glimpse into the extreme weather events millions of people experience every day

From floods to fires in the space of 72 hours, the #COP30 Blue Zone is a rather apt metaphor for the climate crisis whose response is being negotiated here.

#COP30 negotiations are, predictably, expected to last beyond the foreseen schedule. The Summit rarely finishes on time and, while delegations anticipate this, spiralling accommodation and transport costs often exclude smaller countries during the most crucial negotiation stages.

The principle of complementarity- repeatedly argued by Israel at the ICC- relies on States' ability and willingness to investigate their own crimes. The disappearance of Israel's Military Advocate General demonstrates beyond any doubt the collapse of any Israeli accountability.

This AO reinforces the legal consensus that Israel's obligations under IHL, human rights law, and the UN Charter are binding and complementary. It emphasises the centrality of UNRWA and other UN actors in ensuring the survival and dignity of the Palestinian population. End.
