What was originally designed as a beach by Michael Hough is now filled with rubble and is inaccessible and unsafe. We will honour Hough’s original vision and create a clean, accessible and beautiful beach upwards of 10x bigger than the beach on the south side of the island now.

Our proposal to revitalize Ontario Place’s West Island is up for discussion before the Toronto and East York Community Council. Our plan will create a new public, 12-acre urban park with a beach and improve public access to the waterfront.

At Therme Canada, 8 acres of public space (over 40% of the West Island) will remain free and open to the public, 365 days a year.

Alongside Therme Canada, the iconic Pods and Cinesphere will remain a focal point of Ontario Place. Complementing these famous landmarks will be the new Therme building, inspired by nature so visitors feel connected to the outdoors, even while spending time inside.
