If we want to change the culture of how Nebraska operates at the highest levels, we should build new systems that provide accountabilty from the bottom up.

Collaborators at the community level often have good intentions. But systems of power seek to corrupt these efforts at each layer as progess is made.

It's easy to verify this by looking at the people doing the work to change this dynamic. They're increasingly burned out because the power systems that exists in our communities are layered.

Nebraska getting exposed for (likely) back-room deals at the highest levels should remind us that this doesn't happen in vacuum. If you zoom in to what happens within communities you live, you'll likely find the same type of systemic privilege being created. It's our culture.
